The Charles Darwin Research Station is located at Puerto Ayora. Its main focus is scientific research. Its staff of scientists work mainly on the conservation and management of Galapagos National Park and the Galapagos Marine Resources Reserve. Visiting scientists from all over the world come to the Galapagos to perform research on a wide variety of topics, such as evolutionary biology, geology, ecotourism, climatology, and population genetics. Visiting sailors are welcome to visit the Station and talk with staff and also visit the tortoise captive breeding program.
The Friends of Galapagos programme tries to attract new members as many important conservation projects in the islands were funded by the generosity of existing members. FOG may be contacted by e-mail: cdrs@fcdarwin.org.ec or visit the Station’s website www.galapagos.org
