Ceuta to the Canaries with 2 stops in Morocco
Published 6 years ago
I have just travelled from Ceuta to the Canaries via two stops in Morroco, and I would like to report the following:
The yacht dock at El Jadida is occupied by locally owned small craft, and sitting inside the harbour restricts usage to yachts with a draft below 1.80 m, according to the harbour master. There is a charge of 250 dirhams per night, levied even for yachts at anchor. The services of the yacht club’s security guard, Rachid, are available. He is extremely helpful. We encountered no security issues.
Essaouira is currently undergoing extensive dredging. There is a charge of 200 dirhams per night at the dock. Anchoring in the Rade de Essaouira outside the harbour is possible and free of charge; the dingies can be left at the yacht dock. The harbour master advised against leaving the dinghy their unattended overnight. We got scraped by a fishing boat there, however, and the prevailing northwesterlies feed an uncomfortable swell into the bay.
