Ala Wai Small Boat Harbour Falls Into Disrepair
Published 18 years ago, updated 6 years ago
Over the past twenty years, a lack of maintenance on pontoons in the popular Ala Wai Small Boat Harbour in Waikiki has resulted in 100 berths becoming unusable in recent months, with another 200 berths set to close soon. There will, as a result, be no berths available for visitors. Sources blame a consistent lack of investment over the years for the government-owned harbor, with the low fees compared to private marinas failing to provide the capital needed.
