Sweden is a member of the Schengen Agreement Area. See Noonsite’ s Schengen page for more details on the immigration rules.

Passports must be valid for at least 3 months beyond return date and must have at least two blank pages.

Nationals of many countries do not require a visa for visits of less than 90 days.

Requirements to enter Sweden if you do not require a visa.

The exact list of citizens who do require a visa can be found at the Swedish Government website.

Other visa concerns:

You need to apply to extend your visa before it expires. Submit your application for an extension well in advance so that the Migration Agency has enough time to process your application before your current visa expires.

An application to extend a visa because of force majeure or humanitarian reasons is free of charge.

However, a fee of 30 euros must be paid if the Migration Agency estimates that the application is based on strong personal reasons.

More details on visas at the Swedish Immigration website.

    Simon Kirk says:

We have just arrived in Gothenborg (25/05/23) from UK and cannot find anyone remotely interested in registering our boats arrival, because it is a leisure craft, and not commercial or carrying paid passengers. We have been round the hoses with Border Police, Customes, Marine Clearance, to no avail. Struggling to see how we are going to declare our arrival date as a means of validating for Returned Goods Relief on our return.
