Statia - Restrictions
The Statia National Marine Park was established in 1996 and surrounds the island (encompassing the entire coast) and extends from the high water mark out to a depth of 30 meters (100 ft). The total area of the park is 27.5 km2.
Within the Marine Park, there are two actively managed reserves where anchoring and fishing are not permitted in order to protect the pristine coral reef.
Rules:
- Do not discharge any waste when anchoring in the Marine Park.
- Do not dump any garbage, including food in the Marine Park.
- Do not touch any marine life or coral reefs.
- No fishing or anchoring in the Marine Park reserves.
- In the Marine Park reserves, snorkeling is prohibited without the guidance of a local dive shop.

Arrived April 23, 2022.. followed pre arrival procedures on Noonsite.. after anchoring we proceeded to the commercial dock just inside the jetty at the far south of the Harbor.. There is a dingy section on NE side of the dock. Visit the guard house. You will then be sent to Customs and Immigration just opposite the guard house. Told we can check out 24 hrs in advance. Everyone was super nice and inviting. Cheers!
Fogot to add.. while waiting on Customs paperwork, the Health Dept stopped to see our vaccination cards which had been previously submitted online.. Simple and easy. 🙂

No National Park Moorings to be seen now though the holding seems good and the Harbour Authority’s check-in/out fees are now at $35 (for two people on a 35′ yacht). Contrary to the Doyle Pilot Guide you can now clear out up to 24-hours before departure and you’d be well advised to do so; whilst posted Office hours are 08:00-17:00, we found that 09:30 to 15:30 were nearer to the actual hours.
