There are no ATMs on St. Helena and just one bank, located in Jamestown.  The main branch opens 8.45am – 3pm Mondays to Fridays and 8:30am-12:30pm Saturdays. A kiosk at the Jamestown wharf opens 9am-2:30pm most Thursdays and Fridays and 8:45am-12:30pm most Saturdays.

The Bank of St. Helena will change all major currencies, including Rand. As the St. Helena Pound is not exchangeable abroad, ask to be given change in Pound Sterling, which can be used abroad and is also accepted on the island.

An easier solution for payments on-island is the new Tourist Card issued by St. Helena Bank. See this news item for more details.

Notice: St Helena government have closed the Jamestown mooring field since January 2024 until further notice, due to ongoing maintenance and health and safety issues. Anchoring is now the only option. See this news item for details – https://www.noonsite.com/news/st-helena-closure-of-moorings/

Indeed this business is operating no more, so thank you for picking up on this. In fact, Steve Kirk, Harbor Master, has done a great job going through the Jamestown information for us and advising of further updates.
