Finisterre - Docking
Docking:
Small yachts may find some space to moor alongside the outer pontoons of the small boat marina, although this tends to be very busy. As above, the main breakwater may also offer space, however be sure to hang plenty of fenders as this is an unforgiving concrete dock.
Anchoring:
There is a very large bay to anchor in and a selection of nice beaches.
Close to town, yachts can anchor behind the town breakwater, in mud and stones. This can be difficult in poor visibility due to the large number of boats, and is exposed in a northerly (the predominant summer wind). Space here is tight.
If the wind is northerly, Playa de Langosteira offers better shelter slightly further away from the town. The southwest end of the beach is not safe to anchor.
Alternatively, Sardineiro, in the North of the bay, is a very quiet – but unlit – anchorage in mud and weed, sheltered from all winds except the South. Take care to avoid the shallow patch of La Eyra near the middle of the bay. Holding is good here, in sand.
