Seixel anchorage mostly quiet and in easy reach of central Lisbon by ferry. There is a Leclerc hypermarket very accessible by dinghy about 1 Mile South across the lagoon, with easy landing on the beach above half tide. Beware the program of concerts on the quayside if you are expecting a peaceful weekend evening!

Jorge Rainha is the best rigger. He works out of Lisbon/Cascais and his English is excellent. He is very busy so it’s hard to schedule in; but if he gives you a time frame, he sticks to it.

Our work was done to a very high standard and we were very happy with the job done. Jorge made a special effort to keep costs under control and came in right on estimate. His contacts with chandleries and other shops really helped. We cannot recommend Jorge (and his assistant, also Jorge) more highly. When it was done, he insisted on sea trials and tuned the rig better balanced than it’s ever been. He does other jobs besides rigging as well. linkedin.com/in/jorge-rainha-aab70563 He works out of Wavetech.

We stayed in Marina Parque das Nacoes for one week in June 2018, charges 40 euro a night for 14-meter boat including VAT, wifi, power and water.

Strongly recommend a reservation before arriving, it is true the marina is very large, but half of it is unusable due to silting, so space is limited.

Super friendly staff, answers emails promptly. Great place for exploring Lisbon and surrounding areas, starting with the view of Lisbon from the water when going up river.

The bus for going downtown (takes 40 minutes) is 2 blocks from marina. Train station and subway about a 20-minute walk. Airport also very close.

Pay close attention to harbour masters instruction for going through the lock, harbour master will come out in dinghy to guide you in.

We were in Lisbon hauled out at Cento Nautico Alges (CNA) for some paint repair, a bottom job, and replacement of the mast, boom and standing rigging. This took seven months. The workers at CNA did a great job for us.

Excellent English is spoken by the office staff (Afonso and Hugo), Luis (the Director of the yard) and many of the workers. Our work was done to a very high standard and we were very happy with the job that was done.

The yard is about a kilometre from the nearest train station, which is the fastest way into Lisbon. For a little less money you can ride buses. There are great restaurants and provisioning in Alges, as well.

The mast replacement and associated work were done by Jorge Rainha, who is an independent rigger working in the area. Several people recommended him for our spar and rigging replacement. He is busy, and for good reason.

He is the best in the area. Jorge made a special effort to keep costs low and his contacts with chandleries, sail lofts, and machine shops really helped things go smoothly. We cannot recommend CNA or Jorge more highly.

(Editor’s Note: We have asked the poster which marina he is talking about here, however, had not had an answer). Marina Office situated midway along the north side of the marina.

No VHF, despite what the ALmanac says. Staffed 24 hours, night duty security staff. No fuel, nearest is in Doca de Belem. Very industrial but centrally located.

Crowded and a reservation is recommended. Supermarkets, including Lidl a short walk north-west of marina. Cabs easily available into town and cost the same as public transport.

Alcântara marina: the swinging bridge opens every half hour from Mon-Fri (no need to call on VHF), and is left open during weekends, except if there’s a cruise ship moored at the adjacent quay.

In this case, it is necessary to request passage. Very good protection, friendly staff and at walking distance from the centre. Restaurants and supermarkets (e,g, Pingo Doce) can be found in nearby Alcântara, just across the avenue.

Chandlery DND is located close to Doca de Belem with good stock and friendly staff. Lisnáutica also has a large stock, including resins. There is some noise from the nearby bridge and container terminal, but really nothing to worry about if exploring the city is the aim.
