Salina Cruz - Clearance
See Mexico Clearance page for full details.
Yacht skippers must hire a local ship’s agent to handle their port clearance. The agent will also be needed to arrange for a haul out, repairs or diesel fuel. One agent, who has proved to be good, is Operistmo. Call then on VHF channel 16 or 67 to make arrangements to enter the harbour “for emergency purposes” to avoid any delays.
The offices of Operistmo are located two blocks NW of the inner harbour.

New VTS (vessel traffic separation) lanes surround Salina Cruz, so yachts may not even approach or cut close to shore, even during a gale. Most ship traffic now runs N-S into the huge new (2013) breakwater enclosure immediately west of the old port. Keep your VHF on 13 and 16 when passing Salina Cruz.
