Punta de Mita - Docking
This is basically an anchorage as the breakwaters (built of boulders), enclose a small harbour which is full of local boats. It does provide a sheltered beach on which to land a dinghy. There are two more breakwaters to the west of the harbour which also shelter the beach from the swell.
This is a surf spot so incoming swell can be uncomfortable when there is no wind at night. Some boats do put out stern anchors, so check for that when setting your own hook.

Anchored here for a night to use an ATM and get groceries. We pulled the dinghy to the side of La Pescadora restaurant in front of a vacant lot. There is a gringoish market directly up the hill from there but be prepared for very high prices. If you are looking for basics, try the local small stores first is my suggestion. Due to thefts off of sailboats in the anchorage, we returned to our boat fairly quickly. This anchorage has better protection than La Cruz from the high wind thermals in the afternoon. Expect to be rolled around at night. Otherwise, good holding.
April 2024, our neighbor boat was boarded in the night and his backpack was stolen with laptop inside. This follows other reports by cruisers of thefts in this anchorage. Use security precautions here.
