See Madeira Formalities for full details of clearing into and out of the country.

Formalities are normally completed during office hours. The captain should report to the Port Captain’s office on the north side of the harbor. Even if arriving from Funchal and already possessing a transit log, one still has to report to this office.

Permits for visiting the outlying islands can be obtained here.

Arrived Porto Santo August 18. Eight yellow mooring balls available within harbor and operated by the marina. Cost on mooring ball less than €7 per night (13m Cat) approx but based on boat size. Marina itself appears full with a mix of local and visiting yachts. Also possible to anchor inside harbor walls – good holding over sand. Take care if anchoring not to be in the way of Porto Santo/Madeira ferry which comes and goes daily. Lovely spot with the nice town about a 15 minute walk away.
