Two useful European Commission links for traveling with pets in the EU:

1. Travelers’ Points of Entry if coming from a third country with a dog, cat or ferret – country specific information

2. Animal health requirements applicable to dogs, cats and ferrets moved into EU countries – country specific information

Lithuania’s Rules if coming from an EU country:

Dogs and Cats must:

  • be identified with a microchip, or tattoo
  • be vaccinated against rabies by an authorized veterinarian

If your pet dog or cat is less than 12 weeks old and has not received an anti-rabies vaccination, or are between 12 and 16 weeks old and have received an anti-rabies vaccination, the animals must be accompanied by either:

  • Declaration of the owner or
  • their mother. The animal health certificate of the mother must show that the mother received a valid anti-rabies vaccination prior to giving birth.

Lithuania’s Rules if coming from outside the EU

To introduce a pet from a third country, you must enter with your pet through one of the designated Travelers’ Points of Entry.

Pet animals from Non-EU countries and not vaccinated against rabies are prohibited to enter Lithuania.

If you are coming from a low-risk non-EU country, your pet dog or cat must be:

  • be identified with a microchip, or tattoo
  • be vaccinated against rabies by an authorized veterinarian

The animal must be accompanied by:

  • a Veterinary health certificate, together with Declaration completed by the owner or an authorized person, or
  • a European Pet passport (if coming from an EU country).

If you are coming from a high-risk non-EU country, your pet dog or cat must:

  • be identified with a microchip, or tattoo
  • be vaccinated against rabies by an authorized veterinarian
  • undergo a Rabies antibody titration test

The animal must be accompanied by:
