We stayed in Medana Bay 24th October -28th October 2018. It was a real haven and the staff were extremely helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble, the diesel was ordered and laundry taken away and coffee produced in the Sailfish café and the breakfast was excellent. Medana Bay marina can be highly recommended for any other cruisers reading this.

Update from Soraya Al Rashid of Medana Bay Marina:

    Earthquake Update
Although much of North Lombok region is still under repair, the Marina as well as the North Lombok region, and Lombok as a whole is ready to accept visitors. Life has resumed back to normal for most people.

The Marina is FULLY operational – providing mooring, berthing facilities as usual. Services are back to normal: fuel, diesel, LPG refills, laundry, drinking water, boat cleaning/simple jobs all available at the Marina.
We can also provide assistance with canvas making/repairs, outboard and inboard engine services/maintenance.

Other parts of North Lombok, such as the three Gilis are also operational and accepting visitors and tourists. Help is still needed, and donations still much appreciated. We have passed the state of emergency and onto rebuilding – so any donations that can help to rebuild, such as books/stationery/shoes for school children, monetary donations for building schools and houses, as well as building materials/tools.

Update on earthquake damage on Lombok, Indonesia
From Ace Robin of Medana Bay Marina

Thousands of houses are damaged and much of the north of Lombok has been destroyed. Our hotel and marina are in good condition compared to others.
    – Some parts of our jetties are broken but are being repaired and we hope they will be back in use in about two week’s time.
    – We have electricity (after five days of being without) but it is only ON till 22.00 (10 pm)
    – No internet – BUT you can use your mobile phone Telkomsel and XL
    – Unfortunately, our main water pipes have been damaged, so we have no fresh water.
    – Two yachts have been using their water makers to make fresh water for us and nearby villages. They have provided over 2000 litres which have been a great help.
    – Other yachts moored in our marina have been lending us their Genset and some diesel.
    – The hotel is still operating but has limited freshwater.
    – It is good though that we still have 10 yachts safe on their long stay moorings.

If any yachts are heading our way, we need lots of help particularly with simple things like using water makers to help provide fresh water to the surrounding villages.

Update on Lombok, Indonesia by Yannick, s.v. TY-YANN

Medana Bay Marina on the north coast of Lombok provides moorings, dock with water, showers and restaurant. The bay is open to the north so anchorage is not recommended during the NW monsoon (mid-December to March) but it is very pleasant otherwise.

A slipway with a 38T trailer is scheduled for the end of May 2018. This will be the first haul-out for sailboats in South Central Indonesia.

We were very glad we made a stop here. Owner Peter was very friendly and showed the best hospitality standards. The restaurant in the yacht club is very good. We took one of each dish and all dishes were better the other. True Indonesian cuisine with the cleanness of western standards.

Host and fellow sailors shared a lot of information on prices, the island, tours, other anchorages around the are and almost a full itinerary of stops all the way to Singapore. There is free Wifi in the restaurant. They also offer rooms if you want to make a break from your bunk on the yacht.

This is a nice spot but the anchorage is very rolly. Several crews came ashore and stayed in the hotel; others moved out to the islands. The small supermarket can get your wine and spirits by order if you are not going to the capital.

The marina organises good laundry (next day service) drinking water and the worst diesel delivery I have ever had – diesel arrived in containers covered in diesel and sand. One container was leaking as I discovered when I got to my boat. Copious diesel in the dinghy’ lots on my teak decks. This was not an isolated occurrence.
