Description:

The bay at Akra Sounion is not a harbour, but can be a useful stop to wait out a Meltemi and to visit the 5th Century temple of Poseidon. This is clearly visible on the Cape from a distance and is easily reached after a short walk.

    Data Entry5 says:

Whilst moored in Lavrio last September, we needed some fridge repairs. I had 2 ‘engineers’ look at the problem (and charge me 30 euros for the privilege.

Both claimed I needed a new compressor at 1200 euros. After observing their working and diagnostic practices, I declined. I visited the Olympic Marina. they agreed to have someone look at it.

But I would have to moor in the marina at a cost of 120 euros for the day. I declined this too. Eventually got the fridge repaired, it needed a new filter and regassing, for 250 euros on Kos.

    Data Entry5 says:

Olympic Marina is more a garaging place than a marina, expensing but convenient for the vicinity to the airport (Athen’s airport). Also the yard available for refitting, not experienced yet.

No mini market, sign of the vocation to be only depot rather than living marina. Very safe and well sheltered.
