There is a mistake in the description. There is no “small boatyard” at Porto Heli. There is a very large, and well known, boatyard in Koilada, about 20′ by car, ‘Basimakopoulos’ and a smaller one ‘Lekkas’. Porto Heli has one of the best and safest, but expensive, marinas in Greece where I have my boat, but also an extensive harbour which is much chepaer, but is not secure and has no mooring lines, so med mooring with anchor only.

Further updates from SY Funny Girl – 27 September, 2016

In Porto Heli, there are plans to install a big commercial harbour. I spoke to some surveyors who are making measurements today. I was curious about their equipment and they told me they were working for a private investor.

Also in Porto Heli, some 6 to 8 children (Gypsies) are begging for money and Coca-Cola, age 12 to 14 years I guess. They are really persistent/annoying in trying to get money out of people.

Later I found out that some parents are watching them from a car parked on the harbour road.
Some people with a yacht gave them some chocolate instead of money and they threw it in the water, money is what they want!

Free mooring at the public quay. No Electricity, No water, although there is a guy with a water mini-tanker. The water comes from his own private spring in the mountains and tastes very good!! Phone: +30 6937230785

Reported by Con Sprenger, SY Big Sky:

This is our 3rd time at the Basimkopoukos Shipyard and as previous we were lifted and securely “cradled” carefully and professionally. This yard http://www.bsg.com.gr/ is 12 NM North West of Porto Cheli, in a shallow, well-protected bay (with turtles).

There are no pontoons, one simply drops anchor close to the buoyed channel and waits to be contacted on VHF channel 77, a pre-arranged reservation is a must.

The close proximity to Athens and the Athens Airport makes it very popular, in spite of its 700 boat capacity, winter spots usually sell out well before summer.

The yard allows you to work on your own vessel while observing the yard rules and regulations, there are showers and toilets and free wifi (weak signal).

All stalls have power and water, which is included in the storage price. Cost for our 14-meter monohull in 2016/2017 is 10 euro per day, lift and launch 800 euro, plus VAT.
