Nafplion (Navplion) - Docking
This is a large harbour, which is open to the W and NW creating some swell in a strong breeze or more particularly in the south quay. The northern half is very shallow.
When conditions permit moor stern-to or alongside the southern quay in the inner basin, which is east of the ferry terminal. The bottom is rather glutinous mud and some plow anchors do not hold well in it. Shelter is reasonably good, but in strong northerlies, it is more comfortable to anchor off the quay. The east quayside is protected by large groups of tires, used primarily by large vessels, which inhibit the effectiveness offenders and you may be asked to leave if a larger vessel is expected.

While the town and surroundings are great, the harbor is large and any significant breeze creates a good sized chop or swell quickly.
It is essentially open to the W and NW and with a strong breeze from those directions, the South Dock is a very bad place to be.
The East Dock has large “pads” or groups of truck tires for big ships and it’s a challenge keeping the boat and the fenders on them.
The port police may also require you to leave from the East Dock whenever they think a large vessel is coming.
