Itea - Docking

The marina is located to the west of the town pier. Yachts should berth alongside where they can find a space. Transient boats tend to berth alongside the inner breakwater (no laid lines).

The marina offers good shelter, but is still rather “unfinished” with only one working tap. There are showers and toilets and fuel can be delivered by mini-tanker.

The Town Quay is susceptible to swell and not protected from the south and south-east.

For small/shallow draft yachts there is a small fishing harbor on the western side of the town which gives good all-around shelter. Depths 1-1.5m.

Galaxidi,  which is about seven kms (4.3 miles) SW of Itea, has more services and easily-obtained water.

Our catamaran stayed in Itea for 5 days during July 2017. The marina has not been finished for several years. The town is a great authentic Greek city, with a bus that runs to Delphi and Athens.

There are many local boats. There is plenty of room for 8-10 transient boats along the inside breakwater. There were ~5 transient boats during our visit. Yachts side tie, there are no laid lines along the breakwater.

There are no services, security, or fuel at the marina. There are no charges either. There is one space that has a functional water connection. There is a port police office across the street from the harbor where you should check in.

    (DEKPA or Transit Log)

The port police speak limited English, and are generally too busy to visit the marina.
We did radio the port police on channel 16, but they were not expecting visitors to radio in.
No permission was required to enter.

Posted on behalf of Peter Ter Haar, SY Funny Girl:

This is still a roomy harbor with a lot of local boats, at the inner piers. Visiting yachts have a lot of space at the inside of the outer breakwater, 250 meters long.

We were there 3,4,5, and 6th of August (normally high season) and including us there were 3 other yachts. There is Port Police here but they have no time to visit the yachts, so no charge was made.

No electricity, no toilets, no water – although I saw a boat connecting to the garden watering system (illegal??) to fill his tanks, but the taps are locked with a padlock.

For water go to Galaxidi, 4 miles south. Good provisions and ideal with the public bus to Delfi which is worth the trip, ticket 1,90 € per person, one way, 16 km 40 minutes.

Weekend and working days times differ but mostly between 10:00 and 10:45 a bus will leave from the harbor front. 5 minutes walk from breakwater to bus station.
