This is one of the gems of the Cyclades. Katapolo is often full and anchoring off is not always that easy. Keep an eye out to your port side as you arrive. There are some good spots there. Beware the Meltemi – the harbour is not that well protected if it is howling so make sure that you anchor is well dug in and double up your stern lines. The Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa is one of the most wonderful experiences of our sailing life – not to be missed under any circumstances. The Chora is easily top of our list of favourite choras. Although very touristy, tourism here is educated and discrete. The vllages of the north, Aegali for instance are also charming. Hire a car and do the tour of the whole island in a day. Well worth it.

Good shelter in all but Westerlies (SW through to NW). The small town of Katapola is delightful with space for about 2 dozen boats moored Med style. We found good holding.

Water and power are available from distribution points. The port police likes to register all boats, their office is at the harbour front. Mooring cost for our 14-meter boat including power was 5 Euros a night, I do not know the cost for water.

There are many restaurants and coffee shops along the harbour, most offer free WiFi, also numerous car/scooter rentals, a few small supermarkets, and a bakery.

Exploring the island is rewarding/ The Chora is 5 km away and very picturesque and a monastery is seemingly hanging from the rock cliffs on the east side of the island and well worth the steep climb.

Lots of space for anchoring in the bay, but stay well clear of the Katapola side of the bay, a daily ferry drops anchor before docking and the much bigger Blue Star ferry arrives a few times a week after midnight and requires even more space.
