Fuel

Fuel must be obtained through your agent, with up to 48 hours advance notice.  Fuel must be paid for in advance of delivery and only cash payments are accepted according to recent cruiser reports (2024).

International prices change every Thursday.

Fuel is only available in San Cristobal and Puerto Ayora in Santa Cruz.

Because there is a limited supply on the island and the locals need it, boats shouldn’t expect to be able to fill up more than 100 US gallons in Puerto Baquerizo.

The fuel boat is just one of the water taxis. It has a portable diesel pump and a pile of fuel cans, each perhaps around 65 litres. Cruisers report paying $5.95 per US gallon (February 2024), which includes road transport to the boat and the transport in the boat to the yacht. The rate of fuel delivery is quite fast, similar to most marinas. Ensure you put out plenty of fenders!

Gas

Gas for cooking is not available in San Cristobal.

Fuelling at Wreck Bay in San Cristobal (c) SV Hawkeye.
