Anchoring and Mooring in Roscoff
Anchorages
There is a sheltered anchorage at Pen Lann, in the Rade de Morlaix, or in the Penze river, west of Ile Callot. Alternatively, many yachts proceed up the river to Morlaix – but do take care with the shallows.
Moorings
The visitor mooring buoys on the north side of the Chenal de Batz, just west of the Ar Chaden tower have now been removed. The remaining one is for the lighthouse department.
Marinas
The marina, just south of the ferry port at Bloscon, opened in 2016. It is easily accessible whatever the tide and at any time of day or night. It is a 20 minute walk from the centre of town.
With 625 berths it is large and spacious making it a particularly attractive stop for traditional boats. Boats up to 18m long can be accommodated on the main jetty and larger boats with up to a 3m draft, along the service pontoon. Water and electricity is included and there is a chandlery, laundry and bar/restaurant. See more marina details under Related Businesses below.
The fishing dock adjacent to the marina has a depth of 4m.
See photo below showing the entrance via the ferry port. Do not attempt to enter the marina via the southern entrance. It is best to try and arrive at slack water as the tide is strong.
Old Port
The old port on the northern side of the town, is a drying harbor, with access about two hours each side of high water. There are visitors’ berths are alongside the old breakwater. The bottom is sand/mud and small stones. It was designed for fishing vessels, so long lines and protection from the wall is essential.

The north mole of the inner basin in Roscoff is perfect for taking the ground for inspection of the hull, changing anodes et altered. On a coefficient around 100, the basin is dry around six hours. Scrubbing the hull not allowed but washing with a sponge seemed to be okay. And not expensive, 8 euros 2018 for an 11.5-meter yacht.
S/y Atlantis
The strongest currents are inside the marina, in the channel east of the pontoons. If you come at other times than slack water, look at the water surface in the channel, it will give a good indication of the current.
If possible avoid the berths closest to the channel, or you are in danger of having a newcomer thrown sideways at you. This happens daily in the season, in spite of a warning sign at the entrance. Coming and leaving, go as high upstream as possible with good speed in and out of the channel.

Roscoff Marina.
Beware of strong currents (other than at slack water). The Marina will monitor approaching yachts that have AIS, but you call on Channel 9 when near to the marina.
The berthing master will help you into your berth if currents are strong. An adaptor is required for your hose to fill up with water. Good rubbish recycling facilities.
