Documents to provide on arrival in El Salvador

Acta de Visita: Initial acknowledgement of your arrival – issued by Immigration.

180-day visa for crew that require a visa (see Immigration for more details)

Permiso Temporal: Temporary permit to use El Salvador waters.

  • This is issued by the Naval Service on arrival.
  • You can pay for the permit in 30-day increments (at $30) up to 90 days (so it works out at $1 a day).
  • This is required for boats on the hard/stored as well.
  • When the initial permit is about to expire, you simply renew it with the Naval Service.
  • There are unlimited renewals, so there is no time limit for keeping your boat in El Salvador.
  • If you are leaving your boat unattended in El Salvador for over 90 days, you can pay for the expired permit when you return (there is no method for paying the fees remotely).
  • There are no penalties for an expired permit, but, you can not receive clearance to depart without bringing the permit up-to-date.
  • The permit is good for all El Salvadorian waters and should be kept onboard.
