All vessels entering the Cook Islands must do so at an authorised Customs Port of Entry.  Currently, the only open ports are Penrhyn (Omoka Wharf), Rarotonga (Avatiu Wharf), and Aitutaki (Arutanga Port). All other ports are temporarily closed.

For vessels intending to visit Palmerston Island, Suwarrow Island, or other islands in the Cook Islands that are not designated ports of call, see Cook Islands Clearance for the latest information.  It may be possible undertake clearance formalities here with prior permission.

However, cruisers who stopped here in June 2024 to take shelter from strong easterlies and thunderstorms, report that there were officials including health control who were able to undertake clearance formalities and were very welcoming.

Visitors must go ashore and contact the mayor first who will organize the officials.  She lives next to the church, close to the boat harbour.

Please review the Noonsite Cook Islands Clearance page, which explains that the Government web pages re. yacht arrivals are out of date and currently there are only 2 ports of entry. This has been confirmed by Cook Islands Customs. Find out all the details at https://www.noonsite.com/place/cook-islands/view/clearance/
