Antofagasta - Clearance

This is a port of entry.

See Chile Formalities for full details on clearing into and out of the country.

If coming from another Chilean port, check-in with the Armada on arrival, a 15-minute walk along the main waterfront road. An inspector may visit the boat, or alternatively, the Yacht Club Manager may clear with the Armada by fax on your behalf.

If coming from out of Chile (Ecuador for example), then e-mail to Armada and SAG with ETA, as required, will mean they will likely come on board on arrival. Normally you will get driven down to the Aduana office at the entrance to the commercial port and then have to attend Immigration at their offices across the road from the marina entrance. There should not be any charge.

I last visited the port in October 2019. Sadly the pontoons have once again been destroyed by winter storms.
As a result upon arrival you will be directed to the two mooring balls ( fore and aft tie ) near the Muelle Salitrero.. the restored pier in the centre of the harbour.

Google Earth imagery in early 2019 suggests that the marina fingers have been rebuilt and that the Travelift is back in service.
Antofagasta is first port of entry. If arriving here from overseas contact the Armada on Ch 16/14 and wait on your yacht until the officials have cleared you.

Arrived there in March 2015. We picked up a mooring in the harbour near the yacht club. There is a new protective breakwater across the yacht club harbour. Great provisioning, fuel by container from the garage and very helpful yacht club.

There is a travel lift, but storms destroyed the marina pontoons in the winter of 2014 so, currently, while extensive repairs are made, no berths at all in the marina for visiting yachts – only the pickup visitors moorings. Cannot at this moment leave the boat here.
