The health service is poor and evacuation is recommended for any medical emergency  Most medical facilities in Cambodia do not meet international standards.  A few internationally run clinics and hospitals in Siam Reap and Phnom Penh can provide basic medical care and stabilization.   Travellers should take precautions with food and water from street vendors.

Yellow Fever

Although Yellow Fever is not a disease risk in Cambodia, the government requires travellers arriving from countries with a risk of yellow fever virus transmission to show proof of yellow fever vaccination.

Tuberculosis

Cambodia has one of the highest rates of active tuberculosis (TB).

Mosquito-borne Diseases

Malaria prophylaxis is recommended. Dengue Fever is widespread.

Recommended Vaccinations

Travellers should be protected against Hepatitis A&B and Typhoid Fever.

If travelling to Cambodia for more than one month, or if you expect to spend time in heavily rural areas, a Japanese Encephalitis vaccination is strongly recommended.

Avian Bird Flu

There have been outbreaks of Bird Flu resulting in a small number of human fatalities. Avoid live animal markets, poultry farms and places where you may come into close contact with domestic, caged or wild birds and ensure poultry and egg dishes are properly cooked.

If anyone planning to visit Cambodia, by sea or air, it is better to get e-visa (https://www.evisa.gov.kh/), apply on-line it is not complicated, you will pay on-line $40 visa is valid for 45 days.To avoid people in Cambodia trying to make money out of visa situations. If you are taking your own boat I do not know any fee and how much it is, best is country you are coming from should have a Cambodian embassy go there to get information,In Cambodia basically everybody cheat, what i mean by that, if the government fee is $5 to get paperwork done , they will ask $500, that is how the general public and government officials too.In my case it is okay to pay to any country as a visitor, if you get what you want to do in comfort , but in Cambodia you will not get nothing, everything is not good, cannot trust any one. Also I must mention you can pay and buy anything you want with US$$,. Most carpeted county i have visited.

Latest news. I had just negotiated a US $150 check-in fee with Kamsab, which amounts to approx. $350 after committee payments etc. Then at the last minute as we were about to sail I was notified of a new fee from Customs $500 to enable you to clear. This is on top of everything else. Told them it was outrageous and we would bypass Cambodia. I shame as we have sailed in twice before and enjoyed it.

just (19.01.2018) got following information from an Cambodian agent (songykith@gmail.com):
“Thank noted we are the sole Agent in Cambodia you just hand over all related documents to my staff they will do for you.
The cost 350 US for one voyage.
In case you are not left the yacht for sightseeing no need to request Cambodian Visa .
But if you want to make an excursion you should make Cambodian Visa ( cost 50 US per person).
    Duration for making 2 hrs
Next few day if you want come back again do the same pay the same.”

In other words, a no-go for most of sailors.

Hi Kim, yes, sadly clearance costs can now be between $300 and $500 USD, depending on the size of your boat and your negotiating skills! Visas cost $30 and we are waiting on information re. extensions and costs. Our formalities section for Cambodia has now been updated to reflect these changes.

I have been told that someone ruined it for us all and check in is now $500USD. Can anyone confirm this? I also see it is $30 entry check in fee stated here with extensions up to one year. Any info on the extension costs and can the request for extension be done on arrival to allow a six month stay?
