We loved Bonaire very safe and friendly people. It gets busy when a big cruiser ship arrives.
We arrived around 6pm at Kralendijk and tried to contact the harbor master on channel 16 & 11 without success. We then contact the Harbor Village Marina on channel 17 who told us to take a free mooring (red and white color) and go ashore for the Custom and immigration the next day. We went the next day to the custom office (near the big cruiser dock & main square) and all formalities were done in 15min (all crew need to be present)
you need to go to Harbour Village Marina to pay the 10 USD mooring fee per day. European gas bottle can be refilled at the Harbour Village Marina. It usually takes 2 days when you leave them at the Marina reception. Diesel and gasolina available at the Harbour village Marina.
We left our dinghy at the Nautico Yacht club near downtown for 2 USD a day.
3 big supermarkets are available 15 min Walking or 5 min by cab. Data card available at Digicel office in the main shopping street
Checking out the country is same as entry, the crew need to be present for immigration.

I just had my refrigeration compressor serviced by Air Cooling Services. They are a short walk north from Harbour Village Marina at the traffic circle, blue building. The lady in the office does not speak English but will put you on the phone someone who does.

It is summer here and all the AC/refrigeration shops are very busy. It took three days to get a technician to come to our boat.
    We’re happy with their service.

There are no longer 2 moorings near Customs and Immigration (yellow building with red roof at the end of North Pier). Officials told us it is fine to go to one of the public moorings or marina and then come in. Also, know that the currency is US Dollars. Harbour Village Marina has both 220 services and 110 (30 amp).

If you arrive on a Sunday you will not be able to hail the Harbor Master or the marina with regards to birthing or moorings so you have to make some decisions on your own and then contact Harbour Village on 17 on Monday to get all settled up.

It is not possible to reserve moorings, it is strictly first-come-first-served, though there are almost always at least a couple of moorings available. In the unlikely event that all the moorings are occupied, you can usually tie up at the town dock (the north dock), or go into one of the marinas.

Moorings on the south end are more convenient to town, but you get to experience loud music on the weekends. Northern moorings are more convenient to the fuel dock at Harbor Village Marina, and also much quieter.

Note that there is only a single immigration officer on duty, and he/she is sometimes at the airport instead of the customs office. They will usually give you a time when the immigration officer will be there. At the moment, they are strictly enforcing a 90-day stay within a 180-day window.

Immigration and customs are now in the same building near the Northpier. They have a small dinghy dock at the south side of the Northpier (8/2014). You can proceed directly to a free mooring ( 2 red/white mooring buoys with mooring lines) or to the Marinas and go for clearance later by dinghy. Generally they have a lunch break from 12.00 till 14.00 h
