Belgium’s Rules if coming from an EU country

Dogs and Cats must:

  • have a European pet passport
  • be identified with a microchip, or tattoo
  • be vaccinated against rabies with a valid vaccine at the time of travel and included in the passport.

Animals are only permitted to enter Belgium at the age of 15 weeks.

Belgium’s Rules if coming from outside the EU

To introduce a pet from a third country, you must enter with your pet through one of the designated Travelers’ Points of Entry.

Dogs and Cats must:

  • be identified with a microchip, or tattoo
  • be vaccinated against rabies with a valid vaccine at the time of travel.
  • If you come from a country that appears in Annex II of the European Regulation 577/2013, no serological testing on antibodies against rabies is required.
  • For all other countries, the blood test must be performed by an accredited EU laboratory 30 days after immunization and three months before the trip to Belgium.
  • If you come from a country not listed in Annex II, you must contact the Customs authority immediately after entering Belgium.
  • must have an animal health certificate from an official veterinarian ten days before travel to Belgium

Pets under 15 weeks of age coming from a country that is not a member of the European Union are not permitted to enter Belgium.
