Port St. Charles - Docking

There is a small mega-yacht resort marina with 6 visitor berths for yachts up to 200 feet.

If entering, keep the small red buoys on the right. Reports are that larger yachts (over 35 feet) may find the manoeuvering difficult in the marina basin.

There are 2 buoys for boats over 250ft to rent outside the harbor. Check with the Dockmaster.

Whilst this is a secure place to leave your boat, this is a private residential port complex and there are no facilities outside the marina apart from the nice yacht club.

Once checked in you can anchor just off the marina or move to Speightstown or the Holetown area. These are open anchorages and unprotected from swells, but are pretty. Speightstown has a number of shops, bars, and restaurants, but it’s a small township of about 1000 people. The other option is Carlisle Bay in Bridgetown.

Garbage is collected daily for incineration only.

Safety in the lagoon is of utmost importance at Port St. Charles. The following regulations must be observed whenever possible:

• The lagoon is a no wake zone. Travel at 3 knots or slower.
• Do not leave engines running in the lagoon.
• No waste discharge overboard.
• While snorkeling in the sea, you should use a diving flag.
• Fishing is not permitted in the marina.
• Fish may only be cleaned at the fuel dock.
• Life rings are provided around the lagoon for emergency use only. Do not remove them from their location.
• All persons using water sports equipment are required to use life jackets at all times.
• No swimming between moored boats and the dock or climbing onto resident boats.
• Be careful with small children, there is no lifeguard at the marina.
• No swimming around the breakwater.

We checked in here following our crossing from Tenerife. The customs/immigration office is the old building next to the yacht club. Officials were pleasant and helpful, whole process taking 30 mins. Opens at 0900. Anchor just outside the ‘marina’ in sand, good holding and dinghy in. I wouldn’t bother messing around trying to dock inside.
Had breakfast at the yacht club, very nice but eyewateringly expensive,
Speightstown doesn’t have much to offer really, the self service restaurant (blue and yellow Carib beer colours) seemed the best of an average bunch.

      Hi Nick,
thanks for sharing this. But by talking about customs, do you talk about the Yacht Club in Bridgetown, right side of the beach? That would be cool because it would avoid the hassle with the shallow draft.
      Cheers

Hi Holger, for clearance / check in you should still go in the deep water harbour Bridgetown.
! Call Bridgetown Signal Station for your request on Channel 12, before entering!
Go to Immigration Offices „Health“ first!! right side in the hall, 1st floor. After 30min all is done.
And if you need water , asked them and „you are given“.
