Airports & Flights

The airport is located on Horn Island. A regular daytime passenger ferry service operates between Thursday Island and Horn Island, then a minibus shuttle service between Horn Island jetty and the airport, connecting to the flights. Local airlines operate regular services to many of the outer islands.

Qantaslink (of Qantas Airlines) operates twice-daily service between Horn Island and Cairns. Aerotropics operate a regular service between Cairns and Bamaga on Cape York.

Buses

An inexpensive bus service with frequent bus stops operates on the island.

Ferries

A regular daytime passenger ferry service operates between Thursday Island and Horn Island.

Water Taxis

Occasionally available on Ch. 16 – better to use your own dinghy!
