Anguilla - Clearance
ARRIVAL FORMALITIES
Advance Notification:
Current reports are the SailClear advance web notification service for clearance is not operational here and not used by the officials (despite the SailClear website stating it does).
Ports of Entry:
Yachts must proceed directly to Road Bay and clear in at the Customs and Immigration office at Sandy Ground. This is quick and straightforward.
Visiting any other bays on Anguilla requires a cruising permit (and does not allow overnight mooring).
General Process:
Both Customs and Immigration are in the same building by the dinghy dock on the beach, open 08:30-12:00, 13:00-16:00.
You will be asked for 4 copies of the crew list and may be asked for the same of clearance from your last port of call.
There should only be harbour fees to pay, unless you want to explore beyond Road Bay in which case you will need a pricey cruising permit. See Fees.
Because of the serious concern over drug traffic, yachts must be sure to clear in properly. Failure to do so could result in a fine, and the boat being confiscated.
Domestic Cruising:
Inform the authorities if wishing to go anywhere outside of Road Bay as a cruising permit will be necessary (this includes leaving Road Bay in just your dinghy). Costs for the permit are high and cover only daily mooring/anchoring. Overnight mooring outside Road Bay is not permitted. See Documents and Fees for more details.
CLEARING OUT
If staying less than 24 hours, one can clear Customs in and out at the same time. A departure tax of US$3 per person is payable.
Notes:
- Blowing Point is NOT a Port of Entry for yachts.
