World Cruising Club June News: Supporting Cruising Adventures Around the World

May and June are busy times at World Cruising Club with cruisers at all stages of their adventures around the world. The World ARC fleet is deep in the Pacific, 32 boats in the ARC Europe fleet have crossed from the Caribbean and are now exploring the Azores and ARC Portugal is about to set sail across the Bay of Biscay. World Cruising Club News

A lot has happened since the last newsletter in March. In April we celebrated the successful completion of the World ARC 2023-24 in Saint Lucia with a parade of sail followed by a memorable prizegiving with lots of emotion and laughter. While in Saint Lucia we welcomed local cruisers and previous rally sailors to our very first Rendezvous – it was great to get everyone together with a rum punch around the pool and we’re looking forward to future events in Europe, the US and the Caribbean.

Another ‘first’ in May was our inaugural Bluewater Open Day, held in Annapolis. It was great to be actively back in North America after so many years and to meet cruisers, local companies and previous participants. Our next Bluewater Open Days are in Sweden on 15 June, followed by UK on 22 June – see below for more details.

ARC and ARC+ Spaces Available

Due to support from our host marinas in Las Palmas and Mindelo, we are delighted that we now have a small number of additional spaces available in both the ARC and ARC+ rallies.

If your boat is under 18.3m/60′ (monohull or multihull) and you’d like to sail across the Atlantic with us in 2024, please contact us as soon as possible, or click ‘Join A Rally’ on our website.

The 2025 ARC and ARC+ rallies will be open for entry at the end of the summer, but you can register your interest now by requesting an ‘Event Info Pack’. Start by entering your email, and you’ll get all the latest information as soon as its published.

Bluewater Open Days

Want to find out more about sailing across oceans? Come to one of our Bluewater Open Days.
These relaxed and informal days are a friendly mix of presentations and discussion panels, a mini exhibition of bluewater equipment and services plus ARC-ready boats to view.  If you’re looking for your dream boat, there are brokerage boats for sale too.

World ARC Update

World ARC 2023-24 finished in fine style in Saint Lucia in April with a parade of sail from Marigot Bay to Rodney Bay and a memorable end-of-rally prizegiving. Some of the boats are now on their way to Europe while others are laying-up in the Caribbean with plans for more sunshine sailing next winter. We’re looking forward to meeting everyone again at one of our Rendezvous.

The World ARC 2024-25 fleet are en route to Vava’u, Tonga – the picture below is Moody 54 Dilema on her departure from Bora Bora. Their Pacific odyssey continues with cruising Fiji and Vanuatu before this ‘half’ of the circumnavigation concludes in Mackay, Australia.

Cruising with Purpose

One of the World ARC traditions is to ‘cruise with purpose’ – we help the sailors to get involved in community and charitable initiatives along the route. In Vava’u, we will be delivering an eye screening kit plus distance and reading glasses for adults and children on behalf of Global Vision 2020. We’re also raising funds for Host-a-Vet to support visits from veterinarians (there are no vets on the islands) to provide general care, spaying and neutering especially on the outlying islands.

Tanna in Vanuatu is a very popular rally destination, especially the volcano expedition led by the local people. We always offer gifts of thanks, and this year we’ll be donating new football boots and a team strip for the Tanna football team.
