2025 is shaping up as a memorable year for World Cruising Club, with the 2024-25 World ARC fleet setting sail from Cape Town, South Africa, the 2025-26 fleet now under way from Saint Lucia in the Caribbean and the 40th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers due to set sail in November.

A Memorable Year Shaping Up
Mid-January saw a big ‘double’ for World ARC with the 2024-25 fleet starting from Cape Town bound for Brazil via Namibia and St Helena and the 2025-26 fleet commencing their odyssey in Saint Lucia with the first stage to Colombia. Follow their adventures online.
2025 will be a memorable year with the 40th edition of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers setting sail in November. Every year since 1986, families, friends, adventurers, racers and comfortable cruisers have sailed almost 3,000NM across the Atlantic with the ARC – that’s 7,013 boats in total – an amazing achievement!
If you’re thinking about ARC 2025 or rallies in 2026 or beyond, World Cruising Club have a calendar of shoreside activities to help share knowledge and expertise – more below or on the WCC online calendar. The last few spaces are available at their key event, the March 22-23 Ocean Sailing Weekend in Guildford, UK – discounts for rally participants.
Boot Boat Show Dusseldorf
Hall 10 stand E30 – Saturday 18 to Sunday 26 January
If you’re coming to the Boot Boatshow in Dusseldorf this month, visit WCC in Hall 10, stand 30.
Paul, Rachel and Martine are on the stand, ready to talk about rallies, boats, safety equipment and how WCC can support your adventure.
WCC will be joined by friends from yacht Celeste of Solent – so if you’d like to sail around the world but don’t want to buy a boat, come and have a chat with Johan!
ARC Rendezvous – Saturday 18 January from 17:00
All past, present and future ralliers are most welcome to join the WCC Rendezvous on the stand at Boot on Saturday 18 January from 17:00, to celebrate 40 years of the ARC. Meet fellow sailors, swap stories and make new contacts.
2025 is the 40th ARC!
2025 the 40th edition of the ARC, which first set sail in 1986. To celebrate this achievement, WCC are offering some special discounts:
- Any boat 40’/12.19m or less – 2 free crew places
- Any boat that sailed in ARC 1986 – 4 free crew places
- Any skipper who sailed in ARC 1986 (as an adult or child) – 4 free crew places

2025 Shoreside Events
Planning to sail the ocean requires a lot of thought, preparation and learning. WCCs shoreside events will help you make decisions, meet fellow cruisers and answer your burning questions.

ARC Portugal: An ideal combination of cruising, culture and fun
Join WCC in Plymouth or Baiona for a cruise down the Portuguese coast finishing in Lagos on the Algarve, with time ashore for guided tours to local historic sites, rally meals, independent exploration and relaxation.
Sailing in a group with the support of the rally team fosters new cruising friendships and delivers peace of mind when dealing with local authorities, weather and wildlife.
Marina de Lagos is the ideal base for fly-sail holidays, and is a staging point for a cruise to the Mediterranean or the Canary Islands for the start of the ARC or ARC+.
