Vessels entering the harbour have had to follow a narrow corridor in order to avoid the sand bank and only use the harbour entrance with a tide adequate for their vessel’s draught.
Ingrid Fortunato from Marina de Lagos reports that dredging of the harbour entrance starts this week and is expected to be over by the end of the month.
The current shoaling inside the entrance will be the first thing to be cleared, so after about 2 weeks of dredging there will be no more restrictions to large draught boats.
