The Cruising Guide to the Dominican Republic says that “If you have had enough wind for the day or are losing daylight, then use La Caleta for an easy access anchorage until you can continue on.”
The “Medio Ambiente” (Environmental Protection Department) of the Dominican Republic has initiated an order effective immediately that no anchoring will be permitted at La Caleta due to the possibility of damage to the reef. Additionally, no overnight stays will be permitted at the park.
There are moorings at the park for boats to use during the day for those that want to scuba in the area.
