Surviving the Storm: Coastal and Offshore Tactics
Steve Dashew has produced a really useful addition to the blue water cruising library with a comprehensive and gripping book about storm preparation, gear, and tactics (for both the sailor and powerboater). There are a multitude of first-hand experiences in the book and workable solutions by seasoned professional skippers, putting safety kit to the text and discussing the pros and cons of heaving-to, running off, using drogues etc. Dashew teaches that by taking an active part in battling the weather, sailors who are prepared can survive in conditions which many would find overwhelming. An indispensable voyaging resource.
