Hog Island - General Info
ALERT: The island nations of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada were the worst affected by Hurricane Beryl at the start of July 2024. Read this update from Doyles Guides on how the islands are recovering and what to expect if visiting this season (November 2024).
Where is Hog Island?
There is an anchorage area just east of Mt Hartman Bay and north-west of Hog Island.
This is a popular anchorage as there is a good beach on Hog Island and it’s a short dinghy ride to Mt Hartman Bay and to Clarkes Court Bay and Lower Woburn for the bus to shopping downtown.
Entrance Notes and Cautions for Hog Island:
Entry is through the Mt Hartman buoyed channel, bear right before the green/red buoy.
Cruiser Highlights for Hog Island:
There are numerous good snorkelling areas on the reefs in this area.
Security:
As with many other popular anchorages in the Caribbean, be aware of the security situation in the area and ensure that where possible, all equipment, dinghies etc are lifted and securely locked.

- November 2023: A fuel container was stolen from a yacht in the Hog Island anchorage
- June 2019: There is a problem here with unattended yachts being broken into. See CSSN report for further details.
- A cruiser was held at gunpoint and subsequently, he and his wife suffered a terrible ordeal whilst walking his dog on Hog Island in July 2016. See report here.
