Anchor in the river north of the C&D Canal. Move north of the canal and in close to shore, anchoring in 10-15 feet. Some wake from commercial traffic is to be expected.
Stayed here twice so far, as it is just so convenient to the C&D Canal. Holding is solid, but the current is pretty strong. Even with the changing tides, we never strayed off our anchor alarm mark by more than a few feet. Boat traffic can be an issue. I found the ships heading down bay in the main canal are usually moving right along and put up a good wake. Otherwise, with the holding, I’ve slept well here twice. The tide is also significant. The C&D jetties will either stand tall, or be nearly submerged, so be sure to take that into consideration when dropping the hook. At low tide, we anchored rather close to shore in about 14 ft. of water each time. I have yet to go ashore at Delaware City, so I can’t speak to services.
